I am enthusiastic about working with children to help them communicate, and I am passionate about working with people who stammer.
I have worked in Psychology and Speech therapy all my working life. I have a degree in Psychology, and worked as a Clinical Psychology assistant before furthering my studies and completing my Masters at University College London in Speech and Language Sciences, and qualifying to work as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2003. I won a clinicaI prize for my consistent hard work and ability across all of my work experience placements whilst studying for my degree. I have over 10 years experience working in the NHS, in hospital, clinic and school settings.
I have worked with adults who stammer and children in the following clinical areas:
• Stammering/stuttering
• Speech delay, disorder and dyspraxia
• Language delay, disorder and Selective Mutism
• Voice
• Learning difficulties
• Autistic Spectrum Disorder
I have also completed several courses whilst practising as a Speech and Language Therapist, in order to specialise in the clinical management of stammering and Voice. The training courses in stammering were completed at the Michael Palin Centre for children who stammer, in London, and the CityLit, for adults, also in London. The training in Voice was led by Specialists based at Great Ormond Street Hospital. If you have any specific questions about my experience within any of the above clinical areas, please do not hesitate to contact me.
